If you are a Madison City Schools parent, watch for a federal impact aid notification today via Droplet asking for your assistance.
Your involvement is vitally important because it can help secure lots of extra money for Madison City Schools.

In a nutshell, if you are in the military, simply work on federal property like Redstone Arsenal , a post office, the federal courthouse, the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant and other federal operations; we need you to fill out the federal impact forms you will be sent through Droplet.

More than 20 percent of our students in Madison City Schools fell into this category last year.

Since 1999, Madison City Schools has received nearly $6 million in direct federal Impact Aid funding and an additional $17 million in related Department of War Education Activity grants.

It's a big chunk of money. But it relies on parents filling out these Impact Aid forms which are then verified through the program.
Impact Aid is federal money reimbursed to school districts in communities with a large presence of federal jobs. NASA, the Army, FBI, and TVA are examples of such jobs.

The forms simply verify the workplace location, qualifying the district for monies lost from tax exempt properties of these installations.

The Impact Aid kickoff for all three of our local school systems was today, hosted at Sparkman High School.
Participating were MCS Superintendent Mr. Eric Terrell, Huntsville Schools Superintendent Dr. Clarence Sutton, and Mr. Keith Trawick, chief of staff of Madison County Schools. Also attending was Col. Katherine J. Slingerland, Garrison Commander of Redstone Arsenal.

It’s Digital Citizenship Week in Madison City Schools, and our elementary students are kicking off the MCS Elementary Typing Challenge.

From October 19–December 11, students in grades 1–5 will build keyboarding skills through consistent practice while working toward a districtwide school engagement award. Classrooms are also exploring what it means to be safe, kind, responsible, and thoughtful digital citizens.

MCS is excited to see our students growing in confidence and developing digital skills that will last a lifetime.

Smiles, grit and triumphant celebrations were the order of the day at today's Special Olympics at Milton Frank Stadium featuring teams from Madison City Schools, Madison County Schools and others.
MCS schools fielding teams gave their SPED students a heroes sendoff by lining the walk to the bus chanting cheers and holding spirited posters. ROTC cadets, cheerleaders, athletes and other student groups assisted at the stadium.
Madison City Schools fielded teams from multiple schools in this annual event that provides as much joy for volunteers and school workers as it does student participants.
Everyone came out as a winner.
The kids participated in various events including softball throw, track runs of various distances, co****le or bean bag toss and many more.
A wonderful event for everyone.

Hey Madison City Schools families.
You are invited to the annual Madison City Schools districtwide Mental Health Fair on Thursday, November 1th2 at Russell Branch Elementary School, a come and go event from 5-7 pm.

There will be resource tables with information to share about mental health supports in our community, hands-on family activities, a student art showcase, food trucks, and door prizes.
Mark your calendar for Nov. 12th, 5-7 p.m. at the new Russell Branch Elementary School.
