Cameron Katz is the Head of Content + Partnerships at Made By Us, the national network connecting young adults to history and civic life through more than 750 museums, historic sites, libraries, and archives. Arrive at LABORFEST in style! Join Indivisible Madison East in our second annual LABOR DAY BIKE PARADE!
Meet up at Orton Park at 10:30 AM. We will have paint, markers, streamers, and blank signs ready to decorate your bike (and great tunes to get us all inspired!!).
We will leave Orton Park (1103 Spaight St, Madison) at 11:30 to arrive at the Labor Temple (1602 S Park St, Madison). We will travel along the Capitol City bike path and Shore Drive, which are mostly flat and easily navigated. The route's total length is approximately 4 miles.
Laborfest is Madison's annual celebration of labor and unions, honoring Wisconsin workers and Madison’s rich history as a union town. There will be food trucks, raffles, kids’ events, and live music. This is a family friendly event! We hope you and yours can join us for a fun and inspiring day.
Dress for the weather - this event is rain or shine!
If you are interested in volunteering to support this event, please email [email protected]. Volunteer opportunities include: flyering, gathering supplies, chalking the route, and day-of decorators & bikers.

Vote NO for all three constitutional amendments on the November 3 ballot. It is the duty of our legislature to make and sign laws together. Laws should not be made at the ballot box without context and history. Please like and share this post to get more information into the hands of voters. Feel free to change your profile to the profile graphic below this post in comments, and share any of the resources we’ve provided.

Ask us why we are voting no, and you’ll hear this about the three amendments:

QUESTION 1 - Vote NO:
"Partial veto. Shall section 10 (1) (c) of article V of the constitution be amended to prohibit the governor, in exercising his or her partial veto authority, from creating or increasing or authorizing the creation or increase of any tax or fee?"
..because it could unnecessarily restrict public funding of priority programs through taxes or other resources, and disrupt the balance of powers in state government.

QUESTION 2 - Vote NO:
"Freedom to gather in places of worship during an emergency. Shall section 18 of article / of the constitution, which deals with religious liberty, be amended to prohibit the state or a political subdivision of the state from ordering the closure of, or forbidding gatherings in, places of worship in response to a state of emergency, including a public health emergency?"

…because it would limit government's ability to restrict religious gatherings during emergency situations, including dangerous disease outbreaks or other public health threats.

QUESTION 3 - Vote NO:
"Governmental entity discrimination prohibited. Shall section 27 of article / of the constitution be created to prohibit governmental entities in the state from discriminating against, or granting preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, s*x, color, ethnicity, or national origin in public employment, public education, public contracting, or public administration?"

…because it would undo decades of fairness provisions or policies designed to prohibit inequities based on race, s*x, ethnicity, or national origin in public employment, education, administration, or government contracting.
