The Civilian Conservation Corps was a New Deal program that put thousands of unemployed men to work improving America’s parks and natural lands. The CCC provided jobs for young men from struggling families when national unemployment exceeded 25%. Enrollees were paid $30 a month, with $25 automatically sent home to support their families. Massive public lands projects were undertaken, including planting over 3 billion trees, building more than 800 parks, and constructing over 125,000 miles of roads and trails. The CCC improved national and state parks, reduced wildfire risks, and constructed flood control and erosion structures across the United States.

After more than 2,500 citizens submitted comments to the Wisconsin Public Service Commission in the last week, the approval process for a heavily debated power line proposal will be restarted.
