The Hunter House

Directions

The Hunter House Follow the progress as the most photographed house in Georgia gets a facelift. House proud, his initials are on the house.

The Hunter House (circa 1883 - 1887) has been in one family since it was built as a wedding gift from John Hudson Hunter for his bride Ida Clark. Their children Mamie and Nathan inherited the home, and Nathan's wife Evelyn lived in it until she passed away at the age of 103. Journey with us as two of their grandchildren, Layne and Laura Brightwell, renovate their family home. Often called "the most photographed house in Georgia," these two sisters recognize how important it is to share the home with all who love it.

We had an incredible stroke of luck Thursday afternoon. We truly feel God and the angels protected our Victorian home when a mature pecan tree toppled straight down the back yard, missing everything in its path. We are grateful.

If anyone is looking for beautiful pecan wood for woodworking or some amazing firewood, please let us know! The tree is huge, and the aroma is already incredible. BBQ enthusiasts — you will love this for smoking meats!
