Last week, the Hopkins County Jail underwent a comprehensive inspection by the Kentucky Department of Corrections. The inspection included a detailed review of deputy training records, compliance with KRS, KAR, and Kentucky Jail Standards, policy review and compliance, cleanliness and maintenance of the facility, and staff preparedness.

Out of more than 212 compliance points inspected, the only noted noncompliance involved classification housing restraints. This was directly related to our efforts to properly separate offenders into appropriate housing units including maximum security, protective custody, general population, substance abuse program participants, and trustees. Maintaining proper classification and separation is essential to the safety and security of our facility for both staff and offenders.

We are proud of the hard work and professionalism displayed by our staff each and every day. Their dedication to maintaining a safe, clean, and well-operated facility continues to make a positive difference at the Hopkins County Jail.

Last week, our Substance Abuse Program Clients completed the Community Chain of Thanks, a four window collaborative display created for National Correctional Officer’s Week (May 3–9).

Each link was handcrafted by participants, each containing one positive word of appreciation. When the four windows are viewed together, the chains visually connect, symbolizing unity, teamwork, and the strength of our correctional community.

This project honors the dedication, resilience, and professionalism of the Correctional Officers and staff who show up every day to keep our facilities safe.

Every link matters. Every person matters. Together, we are stronger.
