MCSO and MVFD are currently on scene of a fully engulfed commercial motor vehicle (CMV) near 75 N and Winters Road.

Please use caution when traveling through the area and expect possible delays due to the heavy presence of first responders.

Slow down, move over, and give emergency personnel room to work safely.

🚨 STOLEN TRACTOR & SXS 🚨

**posting to assist neighboring agency**

On August 10 at approximately 2:00 a.m., a Kubota SVL97 Cab and a camouflage Polaris Ranger SXS were stolen from Normangee Tractor.

The two suspects were seen operating a Ford F-550.

Refer to the attached video/photos for additional information. Additional videos are posted in the comments.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Normangee Police Department at (936) 396-3691 or Madison County Texas Crime Stoppers (936) 348-3100.

A large cash reward may be available for information leading to an arrest(s).

Please join Sheriff Bobby Adams and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office in congratulating Lieutenant Klute Kyle on being named Madison County’s 2026 Hometown Hero!

Lt. Kyle has served with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office for nearly 15 years. He currently serves on Sheriff Adams’ command staff, where he plays a key leadership role in directing the operations of approximately 60 Madison County Sheriff’s Office employees across law enforcement, the jail, dispatch, and civilians.

Lt. Kyle has built an extensive law enforcement resume and service record throughout his career, bringing a wealth of experience and dedication to the citizens of Madison County.

His connection to Madison County runs much deeper than his career. Lt. Kyle is a proud graduate of North Zulch ISD and Sam Houston State University. He is also proud to be a 9th-generation “Madison Countian” living on his family’s homestead, which has remained in his family since 1862.

When asked for comment on being selected as Madison County’s Hometown Hero, Lt. Kyle humbly credited the people around him, saying:

“I thank the good Lord, my family, my friends, and all of my coworkers who have helped put me in this position to serve and have had the privilege of working alongside everyday.”

Lt. Kyle also remarked that he has never quite understood the concept that taxpayers fund their local law enforcement. In his view, “first responders should be paying the citizens to serve them.” Sentiment that reflects his belief that serving the citizens of Madison County is a privilege and an honor.

The MCSO is proud to congratulate Lt. Kyle on this well deserved recognition and his continued dedication to Madison County.

Lastly, the MCSO would like to thank The Madisonville Meteor for recognizing and supporting all the hometown heroes who serve Madison County day in and day out.

Thank you to the Hispanic Heritage Association - Madisonville, TX and all of the presenting organizations for hosting another outstanding community event!

It was great to see the people of Madison County come together in support of such a meaningful cause. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is proud to partner with organizations that strengthen our community, and we look forward to future events.

On July 20, 2026, the Madison County Sheriff's Office, with the assistance of multiple partner agencies, executed a search warrant at a residence in North Zulch as part of an animal cruelty investigation.

During the search, deputies found 14 dogs living inside the residence. Several were confined in wire kennels while others roamed freely throughout the home. The residence contained extensive accumulations of animal f***s and urine, including inside and around the kennels where many of the dogs were housed. Deputies also observed that none of the dogs, whether confined or loose, had access to water or uncontaminated food. Additionally, there were no functioning air conditioning units in the home, and the indoor temperature at the time of the seizure was approximately 87 degrees.

Because of the hazardous conditions inside the residence, responders were required to wear HazMat protective equipment while removing the dogs. The Huntsville Fire Department tested the air inside the home and detected extremely high ammonia levels. Fire personnel advised deputies that the readings were among the highest they had personally encountered inside a residence.

All 14 dogs were removed and transported to the Houston Humane Society, where they are receiving veterinary care and will remain pending a court-ordered property hearing.

As a result of the investigation, Jayne Elizabeth Taylor was arrested and charged with Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animal.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office extends its sincere appreciation to the North Zulch Volunteer Fire Dept., the Madisonville Police Department / Madisonville Animal Control Division, the Huntsville Fire Department - Texas, the Houston Humane Society, and Animal Investigation & Response for their assistance and support, which made the safe and successful ex*****on of this operation possible.

As with all criminal cases, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office is requesting the public's assistance in locating Bobby Glenn Byrd Jr. (B/M, DOB: 09/01/1989).

Byrd is currently wanted on multiple felony warrants and should be considered armed and dangerous. Do not approach him.

If you see Byrd or have any information regarding his whereabouts, please contact the Madison County Sheriff's Office at (936) 348-2755.

The Sheriff's Office also reminds the public that knowingly harboring, concealing, or assisting a wanted fugitive may constitute a criminal offense under Texas Penal Code § 38.05 (Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution).

🚨 MAJOR ACCIDENT 🚨

Emergency crews are currently on scene of a major accident on FM 39, just south of OSR near Normangee. Expect delays and use caution when traveling in the area. Please avoid the area if possible.

Madison County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, North Zulch Volunteer Fire Dept., Texas DPS, Madisonville Police Department, and Normangee Fire Department are on scene.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office has received recent reports of scammers targeting the family members of individuals incarcerated in the Madison County Jail.

According to the reports, callers are falsely identifying themselves as employees of the Madison County Sheriff's Office and claiming that payment is required for an ankle monitor or other jail-related fees before an incarcerated individual can be released.

THESE CALLS ARE FRAUDULENT.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office will never contact you by telephone to request payment for any jail-related expense. We will also never ask you to send money through Cash App, Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or any other electronic payment method.

Scammers often create a false sense of urgency and may even manipulate caller ID to make it appear as though the call is coming from the Sheriff's Office. If you receive a call requesting money or personal or financial information, do not provide any information or send any payment. Instead, hang up and contact the Madison County Sheriff's Office directly using our publicly listed phone number to verify the caller's claims.

If you believe you have been targeted by this scam or have already sent money, please report the incident to the Madison County Sheriff's Office as soon as possible and contact your financial institution immediately.
