On Sunday, May 24, 2026, deputies with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office seized approximately 115.3 grams of suspected fentanyl following a traffic stop in the area of SH 21 E and SH 75 in Madisonville.

Deputies initiated the stop after observing a vehicle traveling with a defective headlight.

During the stop, a probable cause search of the vehicle led Deputy Reyes and Deputy Allen to locate a large quantity of blue pills that tested presumptively positive for fentanyl.

One individual faces charges related to the seizure. The investigation remains ongoing.

Fentanyl continues to pose a significant threat to communities across Texas. Deputies warn that even a small amount can be deadly, particularly when pressed into pills designed to resemble legitimate prescription medication.

Anyone with information regarding illegal narcotics activity is encouraged to contact the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

On August 26, 2025, Madison County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 9700 block of Newport Lane in Midway regarding a reported Burglary of a Habitation. The initial report was taken by Patrol Deputies and forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division, where Investigator Nathan Scott was assigned as the lead investigator.

During the investigation, a suspect was identified, and the victim's stolen property was recovered from a local pawn shop. After several months of investigation and multiple suspect and witness interviews, Investigator Scott obtained sufficient probable cause to seek criminal charges.

On May 18, 2026, an arrest warrant was issued for Michael Alonzo Nealy for the offense of Burglary of a Habitation, a Second-Degree Felony.

The arrest warrant was served at the Madison County Jail, where Nealy was already incarcerated on a separate and unrelated burglary charge.

This case has been forwarded to the Madison County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Nealy is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office would like to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mothers in our community and beyond.

We especially want to recognize the mothers who serve in law enforcement, emergency services, healthcare, education, and every profession where sacrifice and dedication are part of daily life. Your strength, compassion, and commitment do not go unnoticed.

To the mothers working long shifts, answering late-night calls, raising families, supporting loved ones, and keeping our communities safe — thank you.

We also remember and honor the mothers who are no longer with us, but whose love and impact continue to guide us every day.

From all of us at the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, we wish you a safe, blessed, and meaningful Mother’s Day.

***This post is being shared with the permission and support of the families.***

Over the past two weeks, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office has responded to two critical incidents involving NZ students.

Today, we ask our community to come together in faith and prayer for the families of Chloe W. and Chloe M., as well as their friends, classmates, teachers, and everyone impacted by these heartbreaking events.

Chloe W. was critically injured in a farming accident and is currently at Temple hospital. Chloe M. was critically injured in a vehicle crash and currently on life support until organ donation.

Chloe W., formerly a student at North Zulch ISD, is currently being home-schooled at the senior level. Chloe M. is a Senior at North Zulch ISD.

As a community, let us continue to stand together — praying for healing, praying for comfort, and surrounding these young ladies and their families with love and support.
