Wildfire smoke can affect more than our physical health. Prolonged smoky conditions can also contribute to stress, anxiety, and other emotional impacts. It’s important to check in with yourself, your family, and others who may be affected.

Smoke conditions can change throughout the day.

In partnership with Jefferson County Extension Service, Jefferson County Public Health is offering a limited number of free Box Fans with an Air Filter to eligible Jefferson County residents while supplies last. These kits can help improve indoor air quality during wildfire smoke events.
To qualify, you must:
• Have received assistance within the past 12 months through programs such as OHP/OHA, ODHS, Medicare, WIC, or SNAP.
And meet at least one of the following:
• Be 65 years of age or older
• Be a medically fragile child
• Have a health condition that worsens because of smoke or poor air quality, such as asthma, COPD, heart disease, diabetes, or high blood pressure
Complete the eligibility form here: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/g/MNPg2kSMnJ
All applications will be reviewed to confirm eligibility. Fans will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

Jefferson County Public Health is reminding community members to take steps to protect themselves from wildfire smoke.

Wildfire smoke can reduce air quality and affect your health. Stay informed by checking current air quality at https://AirNow.gov or by calling 2-1-1. When air quality is unhealthy or hazardous, limit outdoor activities.

If you are unable to keep your home safely cool and free from smoke, cleaner-air spaces are available throughout Jefferson County where you can get relief. Find a list of locations on our website: https://www.jeffco.net/publichealth
