I've cataloged over 2,000 books. I still have to do the history and geography, some of the fiction and some of the read-aloud picture books. But here's the link to the catalog of what is done so far :

Dear Madrid and Community,
We appreciate your generosity with art supplies. And we'll be starting weekly classes again soon. Looking for more volunteer instructors.

Does this mean we're official?

Sure looks official, but no. It doesn't mean that. It means we bought some barcodes. In order to be official (and that could even mean funding!) somebody would have to fill out forms, talk to the state library, yada, yada, yah.... Me? I love to catalog. You could say I'm nuts about it. (or, just plain nuts. How many people do you know who love to catalog?) But you know what I don't like to do? Fill out forms, talk to official people, yada, yada, yah. So, we need another volunteer for that.

You know what else I don't like about libraries? Overdue notices. I don't like to get them, and I don't like to send them. I'd rather design a whole system to check out books so they will never be overdue, and I don't have to send out notices. Which I did. It involves a very small amount of money.

Something else I like to do? Play with dolls. What that has to do with the library is that so far, my dolls have been the only other funding source. The primary funding source. I buy dolls with my own money, and when I sell my dolls, the money goes to the school and the library. Again. Nuts.

Thank you for listening to my little story. See you at the library!

I've cataloged over 1,300 books in our library and I think I'm about half done. I believe the average copyright date is some time in the 1980s. Donations of more recent books for kids, or on the Southwest region, or the Arts will be gladly accepted. Also, Looking to re-home about 5 boxes of discard books. Come by and have a look!

P. S. If you donated books in the past that had your name in them, you can search the catalog by your name!
