As you adjust your clocks for daylight saving time, take a few minutes to check and replace the batteries in your smoke detectors. Working smoke alarms save lives by giving you early warning in the event of a fire.

Test your alarms monthly and replace batteries at least twice a year. A simple step today can make a life-saving difference tomorrow.

On behalf of the Magazine Fire Department, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to support our annual Pancake Breakfast. Your generosity, smiles, and community spirit made the event an overwhelming success!

Whether you joined us for a hearty plate of pancakes, volunteered your time, or simply stopped by to show your support, every contribution helped strengthen the bond between our department and the community we proudly serve. It’s because of supporters like you that we can continue to provide essential services and keep our community safe!

We are grateful for the local businesses, sponsors, and volunteers who lent their hands and hearts to make this event possible. Together, we flipped hundreds of pancakes, and much more which raised funds for vital equipment, and most importantly, shared unforgettable moments with friends and neighbors.

Thank you once again for making this years pancake breakfast a true community celebration. We couldn’t have done it without you!

With gratitude,

Lane Mathews (Chief) and the Magazine Fire Department

We plan to make this a yearly event and possibly something similar in the fall! If anyone has pictures from Saturday please comment them below we would love to see them!!

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes-sometimes, even behind the wheel of a semi-truck!

This morning at approximately 2:57am, we were dispatched to a residence for a structure fire. While responding to the scene we noticed a semi-truck parked on the highway nearby with its flashers on. Upon arrival, we began tending to the fire in hopes to extinguish it with minimal damage. While doing so, a gentleman approached me holding a fire extinguisher and stated that he was able to get most of the fire out. The gentleman was actually the driver of the semi that appeared to be stalled out in the highway. The driver noticed the smoke and flames coming from the back portion of the residence and without hesitation, stopped his truck, grabbed his fire extinguisher, and rushed to help. His quick thinking and brave actions helped control the fire until we were able to arrive on scene which resulted in saving the residence, and potentially saving lives.

It's a reminder that true heroes are those who act when it matters most, without expecting recognition.

To the driver: Thank you for your courage and for showing us the power of compassion and action. You're an inspiration!

Feel free to share this post and help spread some positivity today! I would love for this post/story to reach the truck driver so that I could personally thank him again for his great act!
