National Police Weekđźš”
To all law enforcement officers- past, present and future- thank you for your steadfast commitment! We are truly grateful to all of you!

This week, Maggie Valley Police Department hosted the USPCA K-9 Trials. K-9 handlers from Maggie Valley Police Department, Haywood County Sheriff's Office, Canton Police Department, Buncombe County Sheriff's Office, and Asheville Police Department attended to certify their K-9's.

Our K-9 handlers and staff here at MVPD worked very hard coordinating this event, but it wouldn't have been possible without the support from some of the wonderful businesses of Maggie Valley!
A HUGE thank you to:
• Mike Patel- Smoky Falls Lodge
• Brian Beck- Haywood Community College
• Jill McClure- Ghost Town
• Kyle Miller- Mountain Research Station
• Organic Bean Coffee Co.
• Bizzarro Pasta & New York Pizza
• Joey’s Pancake House
• Subway
• Country Vittles
• Bearwaters Bistro
• Publix
The generosity of all these businesses and individuals was a tremendous help in making this event a success!

Congratulations Lt. Wood!!

Favorite 2026 WNC Law Enforcement Officer – Winner Announcement! 🚨

We’re proud to announce Logan Wood of the Maggie Valley Police Department, Haywood County, as this year’s Favorite WNC Law Enforcement Officer!

Logan was nominated for his unwavering dedication, professionalism, integrity, and commitment to keeping his community safe. From mentoring fellow officers and leading with integrity to his work with the K-9 unit and engaging with local schools, Logan consistently goes above and beyond to serve with honor.

These were some of the reasons why people nominated him as their Favorite WNC Law Enforcement Officer:

"Throughout his career, Lieutenant Logan Wood has consistently exemplified the highest standards of law enforcement. His extensive experience, sound judgment, and ability to lead by example have earned him the respect of both his colleagues and the community he serves. As a Lieutenant, he has taken on significant responsibilities, guiding officers under his command with integrity, fairness, and a strong sense of duty."

"From the time he could speak, all he ever wanted to do was serve in law enforcement. He upholds high standards for the career he has chosen and is fully committed to it. As his mother I fear for his safety every day but he would never consider doing anything else and for that, I could not be more proud!"

A huge congratulations to Logan, and a heartfelt thank you to all our law enforcement officers who work tirelessly every day to protect and serve Western North Carolina. Your dedication and selfless service do not go unnoticed!
