Traffic Alert – Highway 96 North

Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department is on scene of a minor motor vehicle accident on Highway 96 North, approximately 2 miles north of County Road 314.

One lane is currently closed while our crew works to clear the scene. There are no injuries.

If you're traveling through the area, please slow down, use caution, and be prepared for minor delays. As always, move over for emergency personnel and give responders plenty of room to work safely.

You can almost smell it through the screen.

The chicken is coming off the smoker, and it's looking absolutely incredible. Our pit crew has been putting in the time to make sure everything is cooked low and slow for tomorrow's Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department Annual BBQ.

🔥 The smokers have been rolling, and the smell alone is enough to make your mouth water!

Our pit crew has been hard at work getting everything ready for the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department's Annual 4th of July Barbecue, and we can't wait to share it with everyone. From slow-smoked meats to all the delicious sides, this is one meal you won't want to miss.

Bring your family, bring your friends, and come spend part of your Saturday with us. It's a great chance to enjoy some incredible barbecue, catch up with neighbors, and support your local volunteer firefighters.

Come out and join us for some of that famous Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department Independence Day Bbq fundraiser. This year we will be holding it the weekend before July 4 th to make sure everyone gets the opportunity to get a full belly of great food.

It’s not often that we get to be a part of a true historical moment, but yesterday was one that hit deep within our community and our department.

Yesterday morning at approximately 4:00 a.m., Brent Scoggins and his two sons, Corbin and Riley, left the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department in Brush 2 to travel to Houston and serve as part of the ceremonial es**rt bringing U.S. Army Corporal Orestus Marion Stewart home.

Corporal Stewart was declared Missing in Action on August 11, 1950, during the Korean War. After more than 75 years, he was finally able to make the journey home with the honor, dignity, and respect he deserved.

We were proud and humbled to be among those leading the procession and helping welcome this American hero back home at last. Seeing the community line the streets in red, white, and blue was something none of us will ever forget.

Thank you to everyone who came out, waved flags, prayed, supported the procession, and continues to stand behind our department and this community. Yesterday was more than just an es**rt it was a reminder that sacrifice is never forgotten and heroes are always brought home.

After more than 75 years, one of Magnolia Springs’ own is finally coming home.

CPL Orestus Marion Stewart, United States Army, was declared missing in action during the Korean War on August 11, 1950. His remains have now been recovered and identified, and our community will finally have the opportunity to honor him and lay him to rest at home in Magnolia Springs, Texas.

We are asking our community to come together and help give CPL Stewart the welcome home he has long deserved. On Wednesday morning, as the procession travels through Jasper County, we encourage everyone to line the streets with American flags, patriotic colors, and grateful hearts as we honor a soldier who gave so much for his country.

This is a moment for our community to stand together in remembrance, respect, and gratitude not only for CPL Stewart, but for all those who never made it home.

Please join us in honoring this American hero and showing his family that Magnolia Springs has never forgotten him.

COMMUNITY WIDE REQUEST - SUPPORT AN AMERICAN HERO!

Please join multiple agencies, community groups, and citizens as we welcome home CPL Orestus Marion Stewart, US Army, as his remains are returned to Jasper on Wednesday, May 20th at around 10:15am.

CPL Stewart went missing in action on August 11, 1950 in Korea while serving with the U.S. Army. His remains have been recovered, positively identified, and are being returned to his home in Jasper County, his final resting place.

He will be laid to rest on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026 in Magnolia Springs, Texas.

PLEASE join the greater Jasper community as we welcome home CPL Stewart by lining the streets in red, white, and blue along the procession route. The procession should be nearing Jasper around 10:15-10:30am tomorrow morning, so please start lining up by 10am, starting at Lowe's Home Improvement on US Highway 190 to US 96 and then north to Martin Luther King Boulevard.

VFW Post 6380 - Jasper, TX will have a limited number of flags for free available tomorrow starting at 9am at the Post at 251 North Main Street, donated courtesy of Lowe's Home Improvement.

The Jasper Texas Volunteer Fire Department will have Tower 1 on display in the AutoZone parking lot with the US flag displayed.

A law enforcement es**rt will lead the procession from Bush Intercontinental Airport to Jasper, with the support of the US Army. Corporal Stewart's remains are entrusted to Coleman's Mortuary in Jasper, who will be transporting him.

Additional procession support will be supplied from Bush Intercontinental to Jasper by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office - TX, Jasper VFD, and Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Dept.

Jasper Police Department will handle the procession and traffic control once it reaches the City of Jasper, Jasper Texas.

Additional patriotic displays will take place along the entire route, along US Highway 59 starting in Cleveland to Livingston, and then along US Highway 190 from Livingston to Woodville and Dam B, ending in Jasper.

Today was our annual Rodeo Day barbecue fundraiser for the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department, and we can’t thank this community enough for the support.

We served up chipped beef links and turkey legs, and thanks to everyone that came out, purchased from us, donated, or simply stopped by to support the department, we were completely sold out by around 1:30 this afternoon.

It took a full team effort to make today happen, and everybody played a part. We’re extremely grateful for all of the help and support from our community and sponsors.

A special thank you to Cartwright Springs for donating water for both the fire station and today’s benefit, and thank you to Jenny’s Fried Chicken in Kirbyville for donating all of the buns we needed for the fundraiser.

We’d also like to thank all of our other sponsors and supporters who helped make today a success.

To top it all off, we got to end the day on a fun note by taking the fire truck through the rodeo parade.

It’s that time of year again! We’re excited to invite everyone out to our Annual May BBQ Fundraiser. Come enjoy some great food, spend time with your neighbors, and support your local fire department.

We’ll have plenty of BBQ, sides, and drinks, along with a great community atmosphere. Every dollar raised goes directly toward helping us maintain equipment, training, and resources to better serve our community.

A Tornado Watch is in effect for our region for this afternoon into the evening. The main timeline is later this afternoon into the evening. Storms could start as early as 2 PM but the main line of storms is expected to move into our area around 4 PM and exit by around 9-10 PM.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible, with risks including:
• Damaging winds
• Hail
• Isolated tornadoes
• 1-2inches of rain
