🔺 MAGNOLIA BOROUGH FIRE HYDRANT ACCESS REMINDER 🔺
The Magnolia Fire Company kindly asks residents and business owners to keep the fire hydrant nearest their property clear and accessible at all times. In the event of significant snowfall, please maintain at least 3 feet of clearance in all directions around the hydrant, ensure a clear path from the street, and remove any snow, ice, landscaping, vehicles, or other obstructions.
In a structure fire, fire growth occurs in seconds, not minutes. Upon arrival, firefighters must immediately locate the hydrant, remove protective caps, connect appliances and large-diameter supply hose, and fully open the valve stem to establish a continuous water supply. If a hydrant is blocked or concealed, even when documented in our mapping systems, valuable time is lost while locating and clearing it before water can be delivered. Any delay in establishing water can allow fire conditions to intensify rapidly, increasing the risk to occupants, neighboring properties, and responding firefighters.
The attached photos show an example of a properly cleared hydrant and how hydrants are connected to obtain water during firefighting operations. These images illustrate the working space required to quickly and safely establish a reliable water supply.
As this weather event continues, your cooperation directly supports our ability to respond safely and effectively. The Magnolia Fire Company sincerely appreciates our community and remains dedicated to serving with professionalism and preparedness.
