MAGNOLA BOROUGH PARTNERS WITH THE CAMDEN COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS TO INSTALL NEW PEDESTRIAN CROSSING SIGNALS AT ALBERTSON AVENUE AND EVESHAM ROAD.

In partnership with the Camden County Board of Commissioners, Mayor Cowling-Carson and the Magnolia Borough Council are excited about the recent safety improvements for pedestrians crossing Evesham Road at Albertson Avenue. Camden County Public Works has installed a new crossing signal that is activated by pushing a button on any of the four new signs. By pressing any of the buttons, all four High-Visibility LED Amber lights on the signs flash a warning to drivers on Evesham to stop and yield for pedestrians crossing the street.

These improvements were funded jointly through a shared services agreement between Magnolia Borough and Camden County. Ongoing maintenance will be supported by the Magnolia Public Works Department.

The Borough, County, and the Magnolia Board of Education have also entered into a shared services agreement to install similar crossing signals at Lincoln Avenue and Warwick Road to improve pedestrian safety at the Magnolia Public School. Installation of these new signals are planned and will be completed before the start of the 2026-2027 School Year.

“The Borough of Magnolia and the Magnolia Police Department have remained committed to honoring Jennifer’s memory,” said Magnolia Police Chief John Huston. “Our hearts are with her family, and while the results of this investigation cannot bring her back, we hope it offers them a measure of peace. Jennifer’s murder deeply stunned the entire Magnolia community. Residents can take some comfort in knowing that both the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and the Magnolia Police Department remain steadfast in their pursuit of justice and will continue working tirelessly until cases like this are solved. For those who wish to pay their respects, Albertson Park in Magnolia features a gazebo dedicated to Jennifer Persia—a place where the community can gather, reflect, and keep her memory alive.”

We would like to thank the tireless efforts of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office, Sergeant Dennis Convery, and Detective Daniel Crawford. Lt. Joseph Vadurro (ret.) was also honored at the press conference for his outstanding work on Jennifer's case throughout his career. There have been many detectives from the Magnolia Police Department who have worked on Jennifer's case over the years. We would like to thank them all.

This past Friday (March 6, 2026) several officer's from the Magnolia Police Department had the honor of attending the Camden County Hero Scholarship Fund's 59th Annual Dinner, where two of our officers received awards.

Patrolman Kirkbride and Patrolwoman Easterday both received Merit Awards in connection to their apprehension of a suspect who was believed to be involved with several motor vehicle thefts throughout Camden County, including Magnolia. A few days after the arrest, Camden County Metro Police Department advised that the information that Ptlm. Kirkbride and Ptlw. Easterday obtained during their arrest could help identify suspects from a shooting in Camden that was currently under investigation.

We would like to congratulate Ptlm. Kirkbride and Ptlw. Easterday, as well as all of the other police officers, fire fighters and EMTs who were honored at this event.
