The scammers are more and more desperate today, even phishing on our phones.

There is a recent text message going around saying they are from the Arkansas Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV), letting you know that you have outstanding fines and gives you a link to select to send in the payment. If you receive the text please do NOT click on the link, just delete the text and report it as spam with your phone provider. Please let your elderly family members know about this, as they are the most susceptible to this type of scam.

First clue, “+63” at the beginning of the phone number is the country code for the Philippines; pretty sure Arkansas Department of Transportation doesn’t have an office there.

How to protect yourself from phishing text messages:
• Be cautious of unexpected text messages: Don't click on any links or respond to messages from unknown senders.
• Never click on links: Avoid clicking on links in text messages, especially if they seem suspicious or ask for personal information.
• Verify the sender: If you're unsure about the message's legitimacy, contact the company or organization directly through their official website or phone number.
• Block or report suspicious numbers: If you receive a suspicious text message, block the sender and report it to your phone provider.
• Use strong passwords and enable multi-factor authentication: This can help protect your accounts from unauthorized access.
• Stay informed about common scam techniques: Familiarize yourself with the latest phishing tactics to recognize and avoid them.

Today’s Youth, Tomorrow’s Leaders (TYTL) were at the PD on Monday as part of their training. They viewed the equipment our officers use, explored patrol units, learned about police training, toured our building, and even got hands-on experience with our virtual training simulator.

It was a great day having these young citizens of Magnolia with us—we’re proud to invest in the next generation of leaders!

The Magnolia Police Department would like to thank our community partner, Albemarle Magnolia for supporting our safety efforts. We truly appreciate your partnership and commitment to keeping Magnolia safe! 💙🐾

Today we’re celebrating National Safety Pup Day with photos that represents something bigger than equipment — it represents impact. 🐾

Magnolia Police Department's Safety Pup was caught checking out the new radios and police cameras now in use by the force. His next stop was to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office to check out their new equipment too!

These tools strengthen communication, improve transparency, and support officers as they serve our community. The Magnolia Albemarle site is glad to play a small part in helping make these upgrades possible.

Safety is a shared responsibility. It isn’t just something we talk about inside our gates — it a value we carry into the communities where we live and work. When we support initiatives like this, it reflects the same commitment to protection, preparedness and accountability that guides our teams every day.

A big thank you to Albemarle Magnolia for donating ten 1-ton bags of salt to the City of Magnolia, which was used by our Street Department to prepare our roads ahead of the winter storm. We appreciate companies like Albemarle that recognize the importance of community partnership and support. We hope everyone is able to stay home and stay safe. 💙❄️
