Once again, we are under a burn ban. It's very dry and very, very windy. Do not burn!

And just like that, we are back under a burn ban. Local fire departments have had to respond to multiple fires this past week and resources and manpower have been stretched thin. Do your part and don't burn or start fires.

Two call outs today... One individual burning leaves and now a grass fire... Folks spread the word please!! Columbia County is still under a burn ban... Just because we got a little ran Friday evening doesn't mean we can burn! The burn ban has not been lifted!

Don't be throwing cigarette butts out the window while driving, don't burn those raked up leaves, no bonfires, etc...

Please be mindful!

Macedonia Dorcheat Volunteer Fire Department, mourns the loss of Jim Lewis, our former Chief and lifelong mentor. His strength, unwavering dedication, and countless hours protecting our rural community will never be forgotten. He shaped us all. The department has many fond memories and stories from our time with Mr. Jim. Our deepest condolences to his family and the community.

James “Jim” Lewis, 91, of Magnolia departed this life on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his family.
