We are saddened to learn of the passing of Mrs. Katherine Thrower.

Mrs. Thrower was the devoted wife of Carl Thrower, who made the ultimate sacrifice in 1978 while serving in the line of duty with Magnolia Ambulance Corps. His legacy of service has lived on through his family — most notably through granddaughters Sam and Abby, who are proud and active members of our organization today.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire Thrower family, especially Sam and Abby, during this difficult time.

May Mrs. Thrower rest in peace, knowing that the spirit of service she and Carl embodied continues to inspire all of us.

Five years ago, On June 20, 2021 Magnolia Ambulance lost one of our most dedicated Life Time members, Mr John Kite.
Mr Kite served with the Ambulance for 50 years. He retired only 7 short years ago at the age of 85 as our treasurer. On November 17 2007, we dedicated 2958 in his honor.
Mr Kite served Magnolia Ambulance and the towns of Magnolia , Somerdale and Lawnside with all the grace of a true Gentleman.
He not only was a member here but also a long time member of the New Jersey First Aid Council.
Mr Kite was a life long resident of Somerdale.

This award carries with it a legacy of dedication and selfless service. It honors the memory of George S. Bakley, a man who gave more than 50 years of his life to the Magnolia Ambulance Corps and to this community he loved so deeply. George believed that showing up for your neighbors — in their most vulnerable moments — was not just a duty, but a calling. We carry that spirit forward.

The recipients of this award are young men and women who have already begun to answer that same calling. At an age when many are still discovering who they are, these students have chosen to look outward — to give their time, their energy, and their compassion in service to others. They remind all of us why community matters.

🎓🚑 Senior Spotlight: Congratulations to Cadet Adam D'Amico who is graduating from Camden County Technical Schools and will be attending Rowan University in the fall studying biomedical engineering. Adam also plans to attend EMT school in the fall. Congratulations, Adam!

🎓🚑Senior Spotlight: Congratulations to EMT Maddie DePrince who is graduating from Camden County Technical Schools and will be attending Villanova University in the fall studying biology. Maddie is also the recipient of the 2026 Camden County Hero Scholarship Fund EMS Scholarship! Maddie joined our organization as a cadet. Congratulations, Maddie!

🚑 Magnolia Ambulance Corps responded to over 3,100 calls in 2025 — serving Hi Nella, Laurel Springs, Lawnside, Magnolia, Somerdale, and Stratford — with an average response time of under 8 minutes, well below the NJ State recommended average response time of 15 minutes.

Our volunteer EMTs are there every day for car accidents, heart attacks, and every emergency in between. But we need your help to keep going. Equipment, training, vehicle maintenance — it all costs money.

We are incredibly proud to announce that we have been selected as a grant recipient from New Jersey American Water! 💙

Thanks to their generous support, we will be investing in life-saving equipment that will help us better serve our community when it matters most.

We’re excited to announce the recipients of our 2026 Volunteer Fire & EMS Grant Program 🚒🚑!

This year, 21 volunteer fire and EMS departments across our service areas will receive a share of nearly $50,000 to support training, safety initiatives, and critical equipment to help responders better protect themselves and the communities they serve.

“Every department knows its own needs best, and this program is designed to help local responders invest in the tools that will make the biggest difference in their communities,” said Kim Schalek Downes, vice president of Business Development, Government and External Affairs.
