Calling all musicians! The Mahomet Public Library is looking for musicians who would be interested in participating in a summer program for kids and families!

On Friday, July 10th, from 10-11 AM, the Library will be hosting a "Musical Instrument Petting Zoo" as part of our Family Fun Fridays series.

The idea behind this program is to give kids a chance to see how different musical instruments work, and hear from musicians about their musical experiences!

Each musicians will give a short (2 minutes, maximum) talk about their instrument and experiences, including a demonstration of their instrument.

Once all the musicians have had a chance to present, we will form different "stations" around the library, and the kids will be invited to get a closer view of the different instruments.

NOTE: The children will NOT be invited to actually play the different instruments.

Depending on the comfort levels of the participating musicians, kids may be able to GENTLY touch the instrument, or experience moving the different parts of the instrument.

The musician will ALWAYS be the one holding the instrument.

Library expansion plans are not dead!

On Sunday, June 14th from 1-5 pm, Ashley Stewart, a consultant from the Every Library Institute, will be on-site at Mahomet Public Library to guide a group of library supporters through a review of what works in achieving public library expansion.

Ashley advised us last year on the referendum that came within a whisker of passing. This year, we have asked ELI to guide us more closely in ways to involve the entire community, as we work to build a library that is sufficient to support our active programming and growing community.

Participants are welcome to take part in the entire session or only a portion, as their time allows. An RSVP at the link below is appreciated, but not required.

If you are enthusiastic about seeing our library continue to grow and excel, please join us this Sunday.
