A big thank you to our cemetery crew; Nick, Clayton and Noah. The boys wasted no time in gettting started with chopping the tree up, and putting in a truck for removal. They worked meticulously with each piece of wood, so no headstones would be damaged! Great Job boys!!!’

Mahomet Township would like to inform residents that a tree at Riverside Cemetery was recently struck by lightning, resulting in damage to several headstones within the cemetery grounds. Our staff is fully aware of the situation and is actively taking the necessary steps to safely clean up the area and assess all impacts.

At this time, the roadway around Riverside Cemetery is temporarily blocked to allow crews to complete this work efficiently and safely. We kindly ask that the public avoid the area until cleanup efforts are complete.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to restore the cemetery grounds with the respect and care they deserve.
