SUNDAY, AUG 23 - STOP-DWI detail makes an arrest (ARREST)
An officer working the STOP-DWI detail watched a driver pass with a phone in hand, then swerve to avoid the stop. The driver had no license on her and was charged with DWI.
SUNDAY, AUG 23 - Forged driver's license, felony charge (FELONY)
Helping State Police locate a hit-and-run vehicle, officers found the driver's New York license was a forgery and her privileges suspended. She was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument.
MONDAY, AUG 24 - Hauler summonsed for 5 a.m. pickup (SUMMONS)
A resident's camera caught a carting company emptying a dumpster just after 5 a.m. The company was summonsed under the town code that sets permitted garbage collection hours.
MONDAY, AUG 24 - License plates stolen from a driveway (ADVISORY)
A resident found both plates gone from a vehicle parked in his driveway. Check that your plates are still on and secured - stolen plates turn up on other crimes.
THURSDAY, AUG 27 - ATV and dirt bike complaints (ADVISORY)
Three separate neighborhood complaints this week about ATVs and dirt bikes on roads and trails. Riders fled before officers arrived. Call while it is happening - after the fact we have nothing to act on.
FRIDAY, AUG 28 - Car fire after brakes failed (ASSIST)
A driver lost her brakes and her husband pulled the emergency brake to stop the car, which then caught fire. Both got out unhurt. Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department knocked it down.
SATURDAY, AUG 29 - Shoplifting arrest at a Carmel market (ARREST)
Store security stopped a man who passed all points of sale with a cart of unpaid groceries. He was charged and released on his own recognizance with a court date.
