A Gold Award project with a lasting impact. 💛
Mahwah Library is grateful to local Girl Scout Clare, who chose to make healthy relationships and relationship safety the focus of her Girl Scouts Gold Award project—the highest award in Girl Scouting.
As part of her project, Clare donated books to the Library that explore healthy relationships, communication, boundaries, personal safety, recognizing unhealthy patterns, and resilience.
📚Happy, Healthy Teens: Why Focusing on Relationships Works by Kari O'Driscoll
Practical strategies for building healthy relationships, communication, connection, and well-being.
📚Good Boundaries and Goodbyes: Loving Others Without Losing the Best of Who You Are by Lysa TerKeurst
Guidance on setting healthy boundaries while maintaining self-respect and meaningful relationships.
📚Standing Up: Making the Best Out of Surviving the Worst by Mary L. Devine
A survivor’s story of resilience, healing, self-worth, and recognizing healthy relationships.
📚Street Smart Safety for Women: Your Guide to Defensive Living by Joy Farrow
Practical advice for personal safety, recognizing risks, and establishing healthy boundaries.
📚Shameful Silence: What You Don't Know About Domestic Violence by Alexandra Lozano
Insights into domestic violence, warning signs, misconceptions, and the importance of respect and communication.
Clare's hope is simple but powerful: to make these resources accessible to teens and help start important conversations about respect, kindness, and healthy relationships before harmful patterns begin.
We’re proud to be part of Clare’s project and grateful for the thought, compassion, and community spirit behind her work. Thank you, Clare, for turning your Gold Award into a resource that will continue to make a difference in our community. 💜
