Earlier this morning, Rescue Company 1, Fire Company 3, along with Mahwah EMS and Police, responded to Armour Road for a reported motor vehicle accident with fire and entrapment.
Upon arrival, Rescue Engine 117 and Rescue 1 discovered a vehicle resting on its side with heavy smoke coming from the vehicle. The driver had self-extricated prior to arrival. Upon investigation, crews determined the smoke was the result of fluids spilling on the hot motor from the crash impact and overturning rather than an active fire.
Company 1 firefighters stabilized the vehicle and secured the ignition while awaiting the arrival of the tow company for vehicle removal. The driver was evaluated on scene and transported by Mahwah EMS to an area hospital for treatment.
All units operated on scene for approximately 45 minutes before returning to quarters.
