Here is a rundown of our upcoming sports events for September. We kick off our Fall Season starting Tuesday with Volleyball & Boys' Soccer. Come out and support our Wildcats! Game admission is $5.00, Maiden Middle School students get into the games for free!

This year we are focusing on the great things going on at Maiden Middle School and in our community through our “Ignite the Good” post. Each week we will share just one of the amazing things that occurs in our building or community! This week in our 7th Grade English classes students experienced a "book tasting" where they sampled multiple books to pique their interest in reading. The students also enjoyed snacks, but most of all they enjoyed Ms. McCall's outfit!

We want to say a huge thank you to St. Martin’s Lutheran Church for hosting our staff for a luncheon today to kick-off the upcoming school year! We enjoyed fellowship, great food, door prizes, and their generous school supply donations will be put to good use to help our students be their best this year! We are ready to ignite the 2026-2027 school year!

Sports Updates:

Volleyball Tryouts will be held August 20th, 21st, and 24th. Tryouts on the 20th and 21st will be 4:00-6:00pm and on August 24th they will be after school until 5:00pm. Any girl attending tryouts will need to have up-to-date physical, concussion, and insurance forms either on file with the front office or bring the hard copies to the first day of tryouts. Girls will need to be dropped off and picked-up at the car rider line.

Soccer Workouts will be held Tuesday, August 18th and Thursday, August 20th from 2:30-4:30pm. Tryouts will begin August 26th after school until 4:30pm. Boys attending workouts and tryouts need to bring both cleats and running shoes. Any boy attending will need to have up-to-date physical, concussion, and insurance forms either on file with the front office or bring the hard copies the first day they attend either workouts or tryouts. Boys will need to be dropped off and picked-up at the football field gates.

Football: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday practice will remain 3-5pm next week. Please be aware that Monday we are projected to have extremely high temperatures and may need to practice indoors. Students need to be prepared for outside or inside practice each day.

Wednesday, August 19th MMS Open House is 4-6:00pm (drop-in) so we are moving practice to 6-8:00pm that evening.

Catawba County Schools Education Foundation will be sponsoring our annual Football Jamboree at Lenoir Rhyne University's Helen & Leonard Moretz Stadium on August 22nd. Scrimmages start at 4pm. Our Maiden Middle School team will play North Lincoln at 7:20pm and Lincolnton at 8:10pm. Admittance is $5 and all proceeds go to support the Catawba County Schools Education Foundation.

Just a reminder, Football workouts will move to Monday-Thursday this week, 3-5pm at Maiden Middle School. Information was sent out via Parent Square last week.

Just a reminder Football Workouts will continue this week on Monday and Wednesday from 9-11am at MMS football field. Please have players there so we can count conditioning days as we get closer to school starting back and practices beginning.

We would like to give a HUGE SHOUT OUT and THANK YOU to Cornerstone Rock Student Ministry for working at MMS making our school look amazing. They pulled weeds and mulched the beds around our entire campus!! We appreciate how our Maiden community supports our school!!
