There was an early morning fire today at the whiteface lake area which unfortunately was a total loss for the homeowner. Colvin Fire would like to say Thank You to all the responding Departments for their assistance - Palo, Makinen, Hoyt Lakes, LakeLand, Aurora, Gnesen, Ellsberg , Sheriff’s Deputies and Hoyt lakes Ambulance for their dedication and commitment to serving the area no matter where or how far or how early in the morning. Thanks again for putting your morning routine on hold and coming to our aid. Sorry if I missed any departments that were there.

Short update. Our firefighters 🚒 have been taking turns pairing up with Palo Fire our neighboring Fire dept to help Fire provide Fire protection up in Morse Fall lake area. It involves Nights / Days with Palo Fire 🔥 / Colvin Fire 🔥 working together and learning new skills. We want to say Thanks to Palo Fire for giving us this opportunity for growth and partnership with them.

A water tender from the Fayal Fire Department makes its way this morning to the Ely area. Fire departments from throughout the region are assisting in protecting structures in the fire areas. These departments form an invaluable resource in fire suppression and fire mitigation operations.

This photo was taken of our Firefighter Hirsch and one of Colvin’s members, Firefighter Paul, as they headed out to relieve the day crew.

We love being able to work alongside our neighboring departments. With one open seat on our night shift truck, Firefighter Paul was able to join our crew for the evening. It’s not uncommon during large wildland fire responses for departments to share seats and work together to make sure every available resource is put to good use.

Opportunities like this help strengthen relationships between departments, allow us to become more familiar with each other’s equipment and trucks, and build teamwork that carries over into future mutual aid calls. When emergencies happen close to home, those connections and shared experiences make us even stronger.

Stay safe to all of the crews continuing to protect our communities and our Northwoods. đźš’

Tonight I had the chance to meet a crew of hotshots from Santa Fe.

They’re just a few of the hundreds of firefighters, incident management teams, aviation crews, law enforcement officers, emergency managers, dispatchers, and support personnel who have come from near and far to help protect our Northwoods communities.

They left their own homes and families to stand beside ours during one of the most difficult times our region has faced.

To every person working these fires—whether you’re on the fire line, behind the scenes, or supporting the operation in countless other ways—thank you. Your dedication, courage, and sacrifice are seen and deeply appreciated.

Please keep all of these crews, along with the families and communities affected by these fires, in your thoughts. We’re incredibly grateful you’re here.

From all of us in Ely… thank you. ❤️🚒
