These photos were taken today at the gun range. We are asking the public to please pick up after themselves after using the range. If you notice any debris or damage to the structures please notify our office immediately. Failure to pick up what you bring in could result in a citation for littering.

With the Bannock Street project currently underway, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Malad strongly encourage all travelers to use the designated detour routes.

We have already received multiple reports of near-miss accidents involving vehicles attempting to travel through the road closure area. For the safety of the public and construction crews, the Sheriff’s Office will be enforcing Idaho Code 19-623.

Idaho Code 19-623 states:

“Any person who shall proceed or travel through a road block without subjecting himself to the traffic control so established shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be punished by a fine of not more than $300.00, or by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than 6 months, or by both fine and imprisonment.”

Please use caution, follow all posted traffic control signs, and use the designated detours to help keep everyone safe.

When conducting a controlled burn out in the county, please contact Dispatch at +1 (208) 766-2251 and provide the location. This prevents us from wasting resources and sending the Malad Fire Department to your location.

City burn dates are April 1st- May 15th
September 15th -October 31st.

On December 23, Idaho ESGR proudly presented the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriotic Employer Award to Doug Williams, Jenny Hawkes, and Dallas Jones of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.

They were nominated by ARNG Sgt. Luke Zitting, who shared how their unwavering support made it possible for him to meet his military obligations — even on short notice — during a time when the agency was already short‑staffed.

Their flexibility, understanding, and commitment to Sgt. Zitting’s service exemplify what true employer support looks like. Thank you for standing behind those who serve our nation both at home and abroad.

Congratulations Justin. After 33 years of dedicated service as a Sheriff’s Deputy he’s retiring. As you close this chapter of life, take pride in the difference you’ve made and look forward to a well-earned retirement with happiness, relaxation, and new adventures. Gonna miss ya, Buddy.
