We held our annual awards banquet on Friday to recognize the dedication, hard work, and time our Malcolm firefighters put in every day.

A special shoutout to our firefighters celebrating 10 years of service—AJ, Jared, and Shaun—and to Kerry on reaching an incredible 25 years of service. We were also proud to honor Cliff for 50 years of service—half a century of answering the call.

Thank you all for your continued commitment and service to the department and community.

🚨 RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT TODAY 🚨

Due to the current Red Flag Warning and state wide burn ban, there is to be NO open burning of any kind — this includes fire pits, burn barrels, and any other outdoor burning.

We also strongly encourage everyone to avoid cutting field grasses during these conditions. Mowing over rocks or hidden debris can produce sparks that quickly ignite dry vegetation. While this is a good practice year-round, it is especially critical on days like today.

Fire conditions are dangerous right now — please take every precaution to protect your property and your neighbors.

Who else is excited about the stretch of pleasant weather we will experience the rest of the week??? 🙋‍♀️

Keep in mind that it is extremely dry outside, and the statewide burn ban is still in effect. We urge everyone to exercise caution and review the following safety tips to prevent accidental fires.

03/09/2026

🔥 BURN BAN IN EFFECT 🔥
Effective immediately, a burn ban is in place for our area. Please read and share this important notice:
🚫 NO burning of brush or grass is permitted.
⚠️ Burn barrels — Use extreme caution. Conditions are dry and dangerous. If you must use a burn barrel, never leave it unattended and keep water nearby.
🏕️ Outdoor recreation — Please exercise caution with any open flames, including campfires and grills. A single spark can quickly become a wildfire under current conditions.
🌿 This burn ban will remain in place until weather conditions improve and vegetation is no longer critically dry. We will notify the community when the ban has been lifted.
Dry conditions and wind make fire spread extremely fast. Protect your neighbors, your property, and our community.
If you see an uncontrolled fire, call 911 immediately.
Please share this post so everyone in our community stays informed and safe. 🙏
