What: The evening kicks off with A performance by duets for a lifetime in the performance concourse at the library!

What: Immediately after the performance we will be begin the walk, which is about 45 minutes long

As we gear up for Tuesday we’ve been remembering previous years of Phil Kline’s Unsilent Night. Did you know we were the first group to host this event in the Boston area?

“Unsilent Night was created as a neighborhood party, a way for me and my friends to get together and beat the mid-winter blues during the New York holiday rush. I never thought that we would do it again, or that over the next few decades it would become the soundtrack for an almost world-wide celebration. While some of the annual Unsilent Nights are in big cities and hosted by large organizations, the smaller community events are essential. That’s why it makes me so happy to see it take root in Malden, the first town east of the Berkshires to join the party. Boston may have had one last year, but Malden led the way!” -Phil Kline

We are thrilled to be hosting Phil Kline’s Unsilent Night yet again this year! Join us at the library at 6:30pm for a short performance by Duets for a Lifetime followed by the walk!

Please join the Clary & Cimermanis Little Free Library and its stewards (Karen, Nicole, Jason, Kwaq, & N8d-el) on Tuesday, December 20th @ 6:30PM at 11 Seaview Avenue in Malden, MA for Phil Kline's Unsilent Night is a community sonic sculpture that takes place across the globe during December and as a bonus, one of our favorite dance duos, Duets for a Lifetime will perform Lighten Up at 6:30 to get the festivities started.

Please gather up your children, your friends, your neighbors, the nice lady you met at the bookstore yesterday and join in the festivities!

Access: We have tested the path with a walker so it should be accessible for folks who use mobility devices. Also, we have designed the route this year so that it circles near the start allowing people to stop after 10 minutes or 30 minutes if they can not endure the full 45 minutes moving in the cold weather.

It's going to be chilly so dress in warm layers. Please bring a phone, iPad or something to play music, and a portable bluetooth speaker if you have one. Oh, and get out any battery operated lights you want to wear. We will have some extra speakers that pair with bluetooth enabled phones and lots of glow sticks if you need them.

Groups across the globe use Park(ing) Day to turn parking spaces into public parks! So much of our land is taken up by temporary rented parking spaces. Why not use them to generate community instead!? Join us for the next hour and change in our park!

Calling Malden Creatives!

CNC Little Free Library will be celebrating Park(ing) Day this year by partnering with Monkeyhouse to help artists and creatives with any upcoming grant applications. Learn more about how to apply for the Mass Cultural Council’s recovery grant or work on your Malden Cultural Council LCC grant application! There are dozens of grant opportunities in the fall and this is your chance to get some feedback on your application and ask questions to other artists and applicants!
