On Sunday June 2, 2024, The Relief Association of the Malden Fire Department and Malden Firefighters Local 902, held the annual Firefighters Memorial Sunday. This year marked the 155th year remembering the departed members of the Malden Fire Department.

In May of 1868 MFD had its first LODD. FF James Fagan died from injuries sustained at Minors Bakery located on Ferry ST.

On the anniversary of his death, FF Fagan was remembered by members of his Engine Company. They assembeled at the Central Fire Station and marched down Salem ST to place flowers at his grave at the Salem St Cemetary. This has been a yearly continuous tradition, honoring and remembering our departed members, since May of 1869, 155 years and still going.

This year 13 names were read at Memorial Sunday, 12 retired members and 1 active duty member.

The Memorial site at Forestdale Cemetary is in middle of an upgrade. Phase 1 was completed for Memorial Sunday, we are hoping that completion of the Memorial site will be by late Summer.

We would like to thank Chris Rosa and the staff of the Foresdale Cemetary for their continued upkeep of the Memorial site and Carrick-Santos Landscaping for their beautiful work on phase 1 of the Memorial site upgrade.

And last but not least, we would like to thank photographer Joey Kolbe for giving his time and photographing our Ceremony.

The drawing for the 50/50 raffle will be on June 2nd. There are still tickets available. Venmo is accepted . Proceeds will help fund the new upgraded Firefighters memorial. Part of the new memorial is complete. We would love to see you there on June 2, 2024, 10am at Foresdale Cemetary.
