🐙🌊 GUARDIAN OF THE OCEAN - The City is transforming four storm drain catch basins into public art installations designed by Art by Swain.

This ocean-centered series, titled “One Ocean, One Connection,” will be bold, colorful, and easy to read at a distance, encouraging reflection on Malibu’s deep connection to the coast, sparking curiosity and conversation, and inspiring the community to take an active role in protecting our shared environment

The first drain art installation is at Trancas Canyon Park, featuring an octopus that serves as a symbolic “guardian of the ocean,” helping viewers understand how everyday actions on land directly impact marine life.

Celebrate our local artists who are paying tribute to Malibu’s deep roots in surf and skate culture at the opening reception on Friday, July 10, at 6 PM at the Malibu City Gallery.
