⛔️County Route 5 update!

County Route 5 has been re-closed at the Joy Brook crossing. The culvert pipe has begun to fail and the concrete head wall on the west side has collapsed. This crossing is now deemed as in structural failure and is VERY unstable and unsafe.

Please heed the road closure signage, barricades, cones and DO NOT DRIVE over the crossing. It looks fine, but it’s not. Not even close!!! Find alternate routes.

I anticipate this will be an extended closure now.

A potential scam has been identified, with a 'bad actor' claiming to be calling from Franklin County Dispatch, requesting payment of property tax to a third party. Please be advised that Franklin County, NY Dispatch and 911 Center only makes contact with individuals to verify Emergency information. We will not contact anyone requesting payment!

The eastern half of the United States faces an intense heat wave starting late this week and peaking next week that could produce dangerously high temperatures over a large area for an extended period. It could threaten records and place vulnerable groups of people at risk from heat-related illnesses. Stay safe!

To those who are dating/married to anyone in the helping professions (EMT's, Paramedics, Police Officers, FireFighters, 911 Dispatchers, Teachers, Social Workers, Therapist, Nurses including other Hospital Staff, Counselors, etc.).

It's going to be some days they're going to come in the door, and not say anything, nor do they want to say anything to you. Trust me! It's not you!

They've talked all day, intervened in crisis situations, seen someone take their last breath, had someone share a traumatic experience with them , and then after dealing with some or all of these issues in a day, they have to drive home. The last thing they want to do is talk.

If the house ain't burning down let them have their moment of quiet time. Sometimes that moment may be the rest of the day. Most of the time, they can't tell you about their day because of privacy, and they're still trying to process what they heard or saw.

Understand, it's not that they don't want to talk to you. Their job consists of talking! They're just tired!
