Summer heat can turn a vehicle into a dangerous environment in just minutes. Never leave a child, elderly person, pet, or anyone who may be unable to safely exit a vehicle alone inside—even for a short time.

Before you walk away, make it a habit to LOOK BEFORE YOU LOCK:

👀 Check the back seat.
🔑 Lock your vehicle after checking.
🐾 Never leave pets or children unattended in a vehicle.
📱 Keep distractions down when arriving at your destination.
🚨 If you see someone trapped in a hot vehicle, call 911 immediately.

And remember: vehicles heat up quickly, even with the windows cracked.

Arkansans can now track where wildfires are burning and how the state is responding in real time. The Department has launched a new active wildfire dashboard that shows current and year‑to‑date wildfire totals, acreage impacted, and details for each incident, including locationand acreage.

As you use the dashboard to stay informed, please remember these important safety guidelines:

• Never approach or investigate a wildfire. Rapidly changing conditions such as intense smoke, heat, falling debris, and unpredictable winds make areas around active fires extremely dangerous.
• Do not fly drones near wildfires. Unauthorized drones ground firefighting aircraft, slow response, distract crews, and create serious airspace hazards.
• Follow all instructions from fire authorities and only enter affected areas once officials confirm it is safe.
• Report wildfires immediately to Forestry Dispatch at 1‑800‑468‑8834.

🚨ANOTHER INCREASE IN SPAM CALLS🚨

Our office is once again receiving reports of an increase in scam calls from individuals falsely claiming to be with the Hot Spring County Sheriff’s Office.

The caller is claiming that you have an FTA (Failure to Appear) warrant for failure to appear for jury duty and claiming that you are required to pay a large sum of money to have the warrant cleared as an attempt to obtain your personal or banking information.

⚠️THIS IS A SCAM⚠️

The Hot Spring County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER contact you by phone call or text message regarding warrants, citations, fines, or similar legal matters.

If you receive one of these calls:

❌DO NOT provide the caller with any personal or financial information.
❌DO NOT provide your Social Security number, date of birth, address, banking information, or other identifying information.
❌DO NOT send money or make any payments to the caller.
✅ IGNORE, BLOCK, AND REPORT these calls whenever possible.

Please help us spread the word, especially to family members, friends, and elderly loved ones who may be more vulnerable to these types of scams.

When in doubt, HANG UP! Do not provide any information.

Today, we proudly celebrate 250 years of American independence and the enduring spirit of freedom, courage, and unity that has shaped our nation since 1776.

As we gather with family and friends across Hot Spring County, let us remember those who fought for our freedom, those who continue to defend it, and the first responders, military members, and volunteers who serve our communities every day.

🎆 Celebrate responsibly:

* Leave fireworks to professionals whenever possible.
* Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby if using consumer fireworks where permitted.
* Never leave grills or campfires unattended.
* Stay hydrated and watch for signs of heat-related illness.
* If you see severe weather approaching, have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts and know where to seek shelter.

Due to the possibility of severe weather today, the monthly outdoor warning siren test for the City of Malvern has been postponed until next Wednesday May 13th.

Outdoor warning sirens are meant to be heard outdoors. You should always stay weather aware and make sure you have multiple ways to receive alerts.

Don't forget to practice what to do in the event of a tornado warning!

Moving to shelter quickly is easier when everyone knows where to go, whether in your home, business, or outdoors.
