November Bird of the Month: The Blue Jay.
The blue jay is a common, intelligent bird in eastern North America, known for its bright blue, white, and black plumage, and a prominent crest. These birds are omnivores, with a diet of nuts, seeds, fruits, and insects, and are often found in wooded areas, parks, and suburban yards. The Blue Jays also wowed us in the World Series this year!

🌳 A Big Shoutout to Our Amazing Tree Planters! 🌳
A massive THANK YOU to everyone who came out to Paoli Battlefield Park this past Saturday to help us plant trees! We had an incredible turnout!
Special thanks to the Penn State Extension Master Watershed Stewards, Chester & Delaware Counties, Patrick Marshalek and the Willowstone School and all the fantastic Borough of Malvern volunteers! We were blown away that over 40 of you showed up to lend a hand.
We are so grateful for our dedicated volunteers and for the wonderful, supportive community we live in. You truly make a difference! 💚

Malvern Borough Environmental Advisory Council held a very successful tree planting on Saturday, which we were thrilled to support! There were lots of families and first-time-tree planting volunteers that joined us. Wonderful job getting so many community members involved!
The trees and shrubs were provided through a PHS Trees for Watershed grant and tools were available from the Conservation District Planting Trailer.

Bird feeders and birdbaths are great ways to attract birds to your yard, but they aren’t the only ways to entice our feathered friends. Planting an area densely with native shrubs, trees, and other vegetation can create a natural look that some birds are more likely to feel at home in because it resembles their native habitat. Shy singers, like the Fox Sparrow or Veery, will repay you with their beautiful songs.
