Thomas Jefferson Slept Here on the night of September 3rd, 1776. Just him and his horse! He paid 11 shillings for lodging etc. And tipped the "horseler" 1 shilling. He was on his way to Monticello, and I can image him having copies of the declaration of independence with him. imagine
