The temperature may not agree, but the calendar is saying that summer is winding down and so is our regularly scheduled recreational releases for the year. However there is still time to enjoy floating in the cool waters of the Ouachita River below Remmel Dam.

We will be providing recreational releases from Remmel Dam this Saturday (9/5) and Sunday (9/6) from Noon to 5 PM both days.

As an extra bonus, we are able to provide an additional day of recreational releases on Labor Day this year. In addition to Saturday and Sunday, we will also be releasing water on Monday (9/7) from Noon to 5 PM. These recreational releases are dedicated times where the flows should be at a good level for floating the river from Remmel Dam to the Whitewater Park in Malvern.

It generally takes 3-4 hours during recreational releases to float from Remmel Dam to the Whitewater Park so please plan accordingly. Our recommendation is to make sure you put in between noon and 3pm on Saturday and/or Sunday to take advantage of the flow. Any later than 3pm and you may end up walking for a significant portion of your trip as the water will fall quickly once the recreational flow is stopped from the dam and you may not have reached the Whitewater Park yet.

Please note that releases from the dam outside of Saturday and Sunday, and Labor Day, from Noon to 5 PM are subject to sudden increases or decreases in flow and should not be counted on as floatable conditions.

Flows above 4,000 cfs are not recommended for floating and flows lower than 3,500 may be too low for an enjoyable float.
