THURSDAY 1/15/2026 - PILE BURNING TO TAKE PLACE AT THE PARCEL

The Mammoth Lakes Fire Protection District will be burning the last of the remaining slash piles in the vacant lot between The Parcel and Center Street today. Burning these piles now, while snow is present and weather conditions are favorable, will allow us to safely reduce hazardous fuels in the area which, subsequently, will reduce the risk and/or severity of a potential wildfire. Smoke will likely be visible throughout town.

THURSDAY, 1/8/2026 - PILE BURNING TO TAKE PLACE AT THE PARCEL

The Mammoth Lakes Fire Protection District will be conducting a small scale burn of approximately eleven slash piles of timber and brush in the vacant lot between The Parcel and Center Street. Burning these piles now, while snow is present and weather conditions are favorable, will allow us to safely reduce hazardous fuels in the area which, subsequently, will reduce the risk of a potential wildfire. Smoke will likely be visible throughout town, and possibly along Highway 395.

All prescribed burn operations are coordinated with the Great Basin Unified Air Pollution Control District in order to minimize the impact of smoke to surrounding communities.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation while we work to remove these potentially dangerous fuels.
