Valentine Eastern Sierra Reserves VESR is a field research station in Mammoth Lakes, CA and part of the University of California’s Natural Reserve System (NRS).

Valentine Eastern Sierra Reserve (VESR) is a field research station, two of 39 sites in the University of California’s Natural Reserve System (NRS). The Reserve is administered by UC Santa Barbara and consists of two sites, Valentine Camp and the Sierra Nevada Aquatic Research Laboratory (SNARL), located 15 miles apart near Mammoth Lakes in the eastern Sierra Nevada. The mission of the Natural Res

VESR provides protected wildlands, on-site experimental facilities, as well as the support facilities for conducting studies of natural systems over a large part of central, eastern California and western Nevada. The Reserve is open, by application, to any bona fide researcher or instructor. We welcome your interest and your inquiries..

We need your help! Join us at Valentine Reserve on Saturday, June 20th at 9am to help rebuild a vital section of boardwalk trail. 🥾

Not only do our youth summer camps, public tour attendees, and researchers rely on these trails, but the boardwalks also protect the important meadow and forest habitat that is home to wildflowers, birds, bears, and more. 🐻🦉🌼

Please RSVP via email to Emily Zujewski, Outreach Coordinator, at [email protected] by Wednesday, June 17th. Please bring a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, sun protective clothing, closed-toe shoes, and work gloves, if you have them. We will begin work at 9:00am and wrap up by 2:00pm. Please indicate how long you will be able to participate in your RSVP email.
