As part of our Sustainability Series grant with High Sierra Energy Foundation, we received money to test out two small Library of Things collections in Bridgeport and Mammoth Lakes Libraries! Come in to browse the collection binders or search our online catalog for Library of Things series to see the variety of items you can check out with your library card, just like checking out a book!

Summer’s almost here and the trails are calling. Remember we don’t mind if you check out a library book to take camping with you, we just ask you return it without any damage from dirt, water, spiders, angry pika bite marks, etc. stop by your Mono County library branch to find a nice backpack sized book to take with you! Or check out one of our day packs that come with guides and art activities!

Excited to finally announce I’m moving to become Director of Libraries for Santa Cruz Public Libraries in July. But leading the terrific library team here, and meeting new friends from Coleville to Benton to Crowley in my native Eastern Sierra for the past 5 years has been a truly special experience. MCOE is recruiting for my replacement through June 14. If you know a librarian who would like to lead this amazing library system point them to the job ad (3rd photo)!

Thank you everyone who joined this morning’s Sustainability Series tour of Bishop Creek Plant 4, and thank you to Matt & Seth for an engaging presentation! 100+ yr old efficiency still generating electricity from the High Sierra’s run off. Special shout out to retired long time Plant 4 staffer Don Paul who joined to see his old stomping grounds 🙂. Next Saturday we’re back in Mammoth with for a Forest Health & Firewise e-Bike Tour! We were pleased to have Kimberly Mitchell from the Great Basin Unified Air Pollution Control District present as part of our Mono County Sustainability Series with this week!
