Mi Casa Charities Mi Casa Charities Hi, my name is Hilda Bleiweiss and I am the founder of Mi Casa Charities. Children and their families living in severe extreme poverty!

I started out as a regular, everyday person who worked a 9-5 job, but one experience in another country, forever changed my life. During my first trip to Nicaragua in the summer of May 2008 to do volunteer work along with my niece, Jillian Lozada, as part of a student run organization within the University of Florida, I was not prepared for what I saw. It forced me to realize how blessed I have be

en in all aspects of my life. That was the year my heart and soul was committed to making a difference no matter how small. With the help of my family and friends I decided to start this foundation to raise awareness and join in the worldwide efforts to help those in need whether here in my own community, in another neighboring state or across on the other side of the world. Charity begins at home, and hence the name of this organization was born, Mi Casa Charities! Thank you for taking the time to read about Mi Casa Charities.

Today I got the best news ever! Yesterday began the relocation of the families of La Chureca to their new homes! Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega (the Vice President of Spain) visited La Chureca and was so moved by what she saw that she pledged $30 million Euros to fund closing the dump and build a recycling plant where the current residents of La Chureca would work. They would also build homes outside of the confines of the dump for the families that currently live there.
Meet Jenny and her family who slept in her new home last night for the very first time! Can you imagine the happiness they must have felt as they looked around their new home! My only sadness was that I could not be there to see her entering her new home for the first time!
