Our thoughts and prayers are with our Brothers and Sisters at the City of Manassas Fire Rescue Department as they mourn the loss of former Master Technician and Deputy Fire Marshal Justin Laidler.
Justin dedicated his life to serving others, leaving an incredible mark on his departments, his communities, and everyone privileged to know him. His courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the fire service will never be forgotten.
Please join us in keeping Brittany, Grayson, Kellen, Savannah, his family, friends, and all our Brothers and Sisters in Manassas and Frederick County in your thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.
Rest easy, Brother. We'll take it from here.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of former Master Technician and Assistant Fire Marshal Justin M. Laidler | February 10, 1989 – July 20, 2026.
Known simply as “Laidler” to all of us, Justin was a beloved member of the City of Manassas Fire & Rescue Department family. He faithfully served our community for more than 15 years, growing up alongside our department. When he first came to Manassas, he was a young man with an incredible work ethic and an unwavering determination to serve our citizens to the very best of his ability. No task was ever too small, and no challenge was too great.
Over the years, Laidler grew into a remarkable husband, father, and leader. He met his beautiful bride, Brittany, and together they built a loving family with their three wonderful children: Grayson, Kellen, and Savannah.
In September 2025, Laidler expanded his career by joining Frederick County Fire & Rescue as a Deputy Fire Marshal. Soon after, he realized something was not right with his health. A few months later, he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of ALS.
On Monday, July 20, 2026, Justin passed away at home, surrounded by family and friends. One of our members described the moment by saying that Justin “felt the love until his very last breath.”
As we grieve the loss of our friend, our brother, and a devoted public servant, we ask that you keep Brittany, Grayson, Kellen, Savannah, and all who loved him in your thoughts.
