Censorship by the Numbers

Today is Take Action for Libraries Day, an annual day of action during National Library Week! Library supporters are encouraged to join together to tell Congress to protect the freedom to read and stand against censorship. There has been a dramatic increase in threats to the right to read in recent years. If you feel called to action, use the American Library Association's tools at the link below to take action and remind Congress why the freedom to read must be protected.

Today is National Library Outreach Day (formerly National Bookmobile Day). Today we celebrate library outreach and the dedicated library professionals who are meeting their patrons where they are. Some of these services include bookmobiles that go out into our communities, services provided to community homes and library pop-ups at community gatherings. All of these services are essential to the community.

We are thankful to those library staff who go outside of the library to meet the needs of our communities.
