June is here!! 🚒🚔🚓

June marks the beginning of Move Over Awareness Month, a time to highlight the importance of protecting first responders and roadside workers who serve our communities every day.
🚒🚑🚓

The Move Over Law is simple: when approaching a vehicle displaying flashing lights on the side of the roadway, safely move over to an adjacent lane. If changing lanes is not possible, slow down and proceed with caution.

Whether it's law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, tow truck operators, or highway workers, these professionals depend on motorists to provide a safe working environment.

They are there to help others—let’s do our part to help keep them safe.

Move Over. Slow Down. Save Lives.

“Prince William County earned a VACo Achievement Award for its Senior Safe Program, which is run by the Sheriff’s Office and helps connect seniors with emergency assistance through wearable emergency response devices. The program provides participants with a direct and reliable connection to emergency contacts during critical situations. Participation in the program grew significantly in 2025, expanding from 15 active clients to 95, while continuing to enhance technology and accessibility for participants.

The VACo Achievement Awards program is open to all Virginia local government members of the association and highlights programs that can serve as models for other localities across the state.”🌟💫
