We offer our services absolutely free of charge to all who request airborne search & rescue support. The Virginia Airborne Search & Rescue (VASAR) mission is to assist in the recovery of lost or distressed citizens, assist in the location and apprehension of suspected criminals and fugitives, and to locate lost Alzheimer patients or autistic children upon the request of any local, state, or federa
l agency requiring “eyes in the sky.” VASARS provides trained and certified by Pilots and Flight Officers to agencies, at no cost. VASAR assists in any operation where a citizen may be in danger or a law enforcement need requires a helicopter for aerial support. Our highly trained and professional team of search & rescue Pilots and Flight Officers volunteer their time flying to save lives. VASAR is a all-volunteer airborne search and rescue unit serving the entire Commonwealth of Virginia twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. VASAR was founded in 2009 and is the first entirely volunteer airborne rescue unit of its kind. Our members are fully trained and are truly dedicated to saving lives and supporting all citizens in the Commonwealth of Virginia without any cost to the community, taxpayer, or victims who are served. This is genuinely an invaluable service to the agencies using our services and resources. VASAR cannot provide such a high quality service without community and personal donations and corporate sponsorship. VASAR survives solely on the generosity of our sponsors.
