Millie and Miles were found as strays and never claimed by their owner so they are now available to a new home! They can be adopted together or separately since they aren't really bonded. Millie (left) is around 4 years old and Miles (right) is around 1 year old.

Join us for a free civilian active threat response training designed to help community members better prepare for and respond to active threat incidents.

This course, Civilian Response and Casualty Care, developed by Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) through Texas State University, provides practical, easy-to-understand guidance on how to react if faced with an active shooter or other violent critical event.

Participants will learn proven survival strategies, including situational awareness, threat recognition, decision-making under stress, and the “Avoid, Deny, Defend” response model. The training also covers first aid and strategies for treating life-threatening injuries in an emergency situation.

This course is intended to empower citizens with knowledge and confidence that could help save lives in an emergency

This past Wednesday, the Manassas City Police Department proudly hosted the final session of our 2025–2026 Parent E3 Series, focusing on the critical topic of Youth Mental Health Awareness and Prevention.

We were honored to welcome Dr. James J. Crist, Clinical Director of the Child & Family Counseling Center, who shared valuable insight, practical parenting strategies, and a hope-centered approach to supporting youth mental health and emotional well-being. His message reinforced the importance of early intervention, open communication, resilience, and creating supportive environments where young people can thrive.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to our incredible panelists for contributing their expertise, professional perspectives, and lived experiences to this important conversation. Your willingness to engage, educate, and support our community helped make the evening both meaningful and impactful.

Most importantly, thank you to all of our community partners, educators, mental health professionals, nonprofit organizations, families, and attendees who supported this event and the entire Parent E3 Series throughout the school year. Together, we created welcoming spaces where families could engage in important conversations surrounding the challenges facing today’s youth while learning about prevention strategies, available resources, and supportive services within our community.

As we officially close out the 2025–2026 Parent E3 Series, we remain committed to continuing this prevention-focused work through collaboration, education, outreach, and community engagement.

Because as we often say — it truly takes a village.
