The men, who are in their 60s, have been cleaning doorknobs and floors at the Virginia shelter to stay safe until their move date.

Happy Mother's Day to our Friends of SERVE community moms!!! We delivered brunch this morning, egg casseroles, turkey sausage, yogurt, granola bars, milk, juice, etc. If anyone is interested in delivering brunch or donating activity books or other items please message us!

We wanted to send this information in regards to the COVID-19 and its impact on the SERVE campus in particular. While NVFS has put in place for some programs to work from home, programs like the shelter and the HRC are still operational as families now more than ever need our services. Below you will find information regarding SERVE’s most urgent needs and ask that you share this with your networks.

Please note that due to these unprecedented time we are only able to accept items that are on the list. If anyone has questions, they can email Navara Cannon at [email protected]

How you can help a family prepare:

Successful Easter Brunch thanks your our Friends of SERVE community! We had several folks help make a delicious Easter Sunday Brunch for the SERVE Campus Residents Today! Thank you to:
- Sharon DeCoursey Ambrose for making ham and scalloped potatoes (and for slicing the ham so nice and organizing it by size for easy serving), and donating candy. - Swarn Roscoe and her husband for making scalloped potatoes. - An anonymous donor for donating 5 HoneyBaked Hams, and the Friends of SERVE Board for making glazed carrots, sweet potatoes, egg casseroles, slicing all the HoneyBaked Hams, and all the additional breakfast necessities.
We also had Easter "loot bags" for the kids filled with activity books and supplies and candy.
Hope all of our Friends of SERVE had a wonderful Easter as much as possible given our environment. Stay safe. Blessings to you!

Hi Friends! We are doing our monthly brunch as a drop-off delivery this month. It just happens that our monthly brunch, which we do the Second Sunday of every month, falls on Easter Sunday this year! We will be cooking in advance and delivering an Easter dinner for 50 adult shelter residents and 30 children shelter residents. The menu will be ham, scalloped potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, and rolls. If anyone in the Manassas, Gainesville, Haymarket area would like to donate a sliced ham or other side item please let us know via text to 703 346 6315 or FB messenger by 12p Saturday April 11 so I know how much is left for us to buy and cook in advance. We have to cook in advance and deliver in sealed containers due to our current shelter in place restrictions. We can come and pick up food Saturday evening or Sunday morning before 8 am. We plan on delivering everything to the shelter by 10am so items can be brought to temperature and Easter brunch can be served to the residents. Thank you!!!

Friends, the Hunger Resource Center supporting those in need in Prince William County with food needs help. If you can drop off any non-perishable food items to 10056 Dean Drive in Manassas please do. Just as it is difficult for those with food to leave the house, it is worse not to have any food.

NVFS’ SERVE Campus provides emergency shelter, food assistance, rapid re-housing, health access and early childhood development services in Prince William.

Will you help us meet our goal of supporting those in need in PWC through the Strikes for SERVE fundraiser? Please donate anything you can. Examples of what your donations will help us do include
- $1,000 will provide 10 mental health counseling sessions
- $500 will provide 5 nights of emergency shelter
- $250 will provide 1 child with 6 months of health coverage
- $100 will provide 500 pounds of food for families utilizing our Hunger Resource Center. *HRC can purchase food from the Capital Area Food Bank for a flat fee of $0.19 per pound, meaning that $100 can buy more than 500 pounds of food.*
- $50 will provide 1 newborn with a portable crib
