Last night (Tuesday), members of the Northshire Mutual Aid Association came together for a multi‑department mutual aid training drill, continuing our commitment to strong teamwork, shared skills, and coordinated emergency response across the region.

These joint trainings are invaluable - they allow us to practice real‑world scenarios, refine communication, and ensure that when the call comes in, every department can operate seamlessly side‑by‑side.

A big thank you to all departments who attended and contributed their time, experience, and energy. Your dedication makes our communities safer every day.

Nothing says “start of summer” like the annual Manchester Fire Department hosedown at MEMS Field Day! Our crews were out this morning helping students celebrate the last day of school with plenty of water, laughter, and sunshine.

This tradition is one of our favorites - seeing the smiles, hearing the cheers, and being part of a moment the kids look forward to every year. It’s a great reminder of why community connections matter so much.

Progress continues at the Annex site this week as Hermann Construction and their awesome team begin installing the radiant heat tubing inside the foundation forms. This system will help keep the space warm and efficient for years to come, and the crew is moving quickly - installation is expected to be finished by tomorrow.

Once the tubing is in place, the foundation pour will be scheduled, bringing us one big step closer to seeing the structure itself start to rise.

Today, fire departments from across Bennington County came together to es**rt our Vermont National Guard as they traveled from Bennington to East Dorset on their way north for deployment. It was an honor to stand alongside our fellow departments and show our support for the men and women who serve our state and our country.

To our Guard members: Thank you, God bless you, and stay safe. Your dedication and sacrifice do not go unnoticed, and our community stands firmly behind you.

Big progress this week on the Annex Project. The first foundation pour is officially complete, marking a major milestone as we move closer to getting the structure itself underway.

Looking ahead to next week, crews are planning to install the radiant heat tubing, followed by the second foundation pour - the final step before vertical construction can begin.

A huge thank‑you to Hermann Construction for their continued hard work, and to Orlando and his crew, who will be installing the radiant tubing that will help keep this space warm and efficient for years to come.

We appreciate the community’s support as this project takes shape.

This evening, Manchester Fire Department had the honor of es**rting the BBA Class of 2026 car parade - a tradition we’re always proud to support. The parade rolled out from Riley Rink, traveled to the roundabout, down Depot Street, up Center Hill, and back to the rink with plenty of cheering, honking, and Bulldog spirit along the way.

Seeing our community come together to celebrate these graduates is something special. To the Class of 2026: your hard work, resilience, and accomplishments have brought you to this moment. Enjoy it, embrace it, and carry that Bulldog pride wherever you go next.

Manchester Fire Department was proud to support the Manchester Elementary Middle School Carnival today. It’s always great to spend time with our community, especially the kids who bring so much energy and excitement to events like this.

A huge thank‑you to Rupert VT Volunteer Fire Department for the use of their dunk tank - it was an absolute hit and kept the crowd smiling all day.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a fun community tradition.

Earlier this morning, our crews participated in an intensive vehicle extrication training at Slate Valley Auto in Granville, NY, taking advantage of a realistic environment to refine the lifesaving skills we depend on during serious motor‑vehicle incidents. Training scenarios included patient access, door and roof removal, glass management, vehicle stabilization, and coordinated tool operations - all under conditions designed to mirror the challenges we face on real calls.

Hands‑on opportunities like this allow firefighters to practice with extrication tools, cribbing, stabilization struts, and saws while working as a unified team. These sessions build muscle memory, sharpen communication, and ensure that when the tones drop, our crews can perform quickly, safely, and confidently.

A sincere thank‑you to Dorset Fire Department for organizing the day and bringing departments together, and to Slate Valley Auto for generously providing vehicles and a safe training space. Joint trainings like this strengthen regional response capabilities and reinforce the mutual‑aid partnerships our communities rely on.

Site work continued on Wednesday as progress moves steadily toward the next major milestone. Crews installed the foam insulation that will support future radiant heat in the building - an important step in creating a warm, efficient space for our equipment and members.

We’re hopeful that Orlando and his crew will be able to install the radiant tubing today, bringing us one step closer to the concrete foundation pour.
