Congrats to Jon, who enlisted today as a 17C- Cyber Operations Specialist. He was sworn in today by his father, Colonel Pizzo who’s been a member of the CT Army National Guard for 20+ years.

PVT Pizzo will be leaving to basic training next July as soon as he’s done with his senior year at school.

He will be taking advantage of our 100% when he attends next year.

Both attending AI Prince Tech as HS Juniors, took advantage of our SPLIT Training Option. The split training option allows HS Juniors to attend Boot camp (10 weeks) during the summer time after JR year, come back for their senior year, and complete their job training summer after HS Graduation. Horizontal construction engineers use bulldozers, cranes, graders and other heavy equipment to move tons of earth and material to complete construction projects for the Army National Guard. They are also responsible for operating tractors with dozer attachments, scoop loaders, backhoe loaders, hydraulic excavators, motorized graders and scrapers.⁣
⁣
𝐉𝐎𝐁 𝐃𝐔𝐓𝐈𝐄𝐒⁣
•Analyze information on grade stakes and their placement⁣
•Drive bulldozers, road graders and other heavy equipment to level earth⁣
•Clear, grub, strip, excavate, backfill, stockpile and push scraper with tractor crawler⁣
•Cut and spread fill material with scraper⁣
•Transport heavy construction equipment with tractor-trailer⁣
•Assist in performance of combat engineer missions⁣
⁣
𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆⁣
Job training for a horizontal construction engineer requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and nine weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Part of this time is spent in the classroom, and part takes place in the field with on-the-job instructions.⁣

Advanced Individual Training (Job Training): 12 weeks at Fort Leonard Wood, MO ⁣
⁣
Some of the skills you’ll learn are:⁣
⁣
•Operation of different types of construction and rough-terrain equipment⁣
•Maintenance and repair of equipment⁣

Today, he enlisted as a 15U: CH-47 Helicopter Repairer- and will be leaving to basic training in November.

Connecticut approved Comparative Certification for MP’s⁣
⁣
What does this mean? ⁣
⁣
“Connecticut Police Officers Standards and Training Council (POST) has approved a comparative certification for Military Police. Is is similar to if a police officer from another state were to come to CT and was looking to become law enforcement in this state. The MP is still required to go through the hiring process, but this program allows departments an alternative to sending MP’s through the academy. The program will allow people to complete training requirements at the discretion of the hiring agency and waived academy requirement.”⁣
⁣
In other words- Enlist in CT Army National Guard as an MP, complete Basic Combat Training and AIT (JOB training), come back to CT and have the equivalence of academy in your tool box. Much easier way to become a law enforcement officer. 👍🏼⁣
