This week has been busy with Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival coming to town, but our departments have made significant progress, nonetheless.
Manchester Parks and Recreation
Work continues on the aerobics room floor, with completion expected next week and a possible reopening on June 22. Summer Camp participants enjoyed making their own pizzas. The pool has been very busy with strong family attendance.
Manchester Police Department
Officers did an excellent job managing traffic, ensuring public safety, and keeping the community informed throughout the week.
Fire Department:
Crews repaired the Chick-fil-A flag on Monday and responded to a major car fire Tuesday night.
Water Department:
Significant progress was made supporting the upcoming TDOT bridge project on Highway 55. Crews located a 50+ year-old water main over 20 feet deep, helping prevent service disruptions during construction. Hydrant inspections and maintenance also continue system wide. Recognition goes to the field staff for their professionalism and dedication.
City of Manchester Public Works Department
Paving was completed on Woodland St, East High St, and Coffee St.
Mayor’s Office:
Joey Hobbs, Mayor of Manchester spoke at the Rotary Club about plans for Manchester’s participation in celebrating America’s 250th birthday. Planned activities include a petting zoo, face painting, bounce houses, banana split and watermelon eating contests, sack races, and water balloon activities.
