MCC Criminal Justice Club

MCC Criminal Justice Club We are a collective of current and past students from Manchester Community College. We are active participants in our school and our surrounding communities.

The Criminal Justice Club is a place to learn, discuss, and interact with professionals who are currently working or have worked in the Criminal Justice field. Our group helps increase awareness of the CJ program and events by:

• hosting fundraisers/networking/social events
• promoting participation in open events to CJ members and students
• participating in several community service projects that reflect our commitment to our field of study and to serve out surrounding communities.

My son today was riding his bicycle from the high school home,& he apparently was riding his bike. “too fast” for another member in our community, that member then decided to get in his pick up truck and follow my child home park his vehicle,& as my son was locking up his bicycle in the garage, enter the entrance of the garage & our home to complain that my son was riding his bike too fast on a “public“ sidewalk. my son was scared he was not sure what to do even though we’ve had this conversation multiple times the elderly man decided not to leave and yes I did say the elderly because he was in his 80s complaining about a public sidewalk and what my child was riding on. He singled my son out as a thug because he wore a hoodie, I don’t know if anybody’s noticed it’s in the 30s and 40s it’s almost winter my son will wear his “hoodie” outside. it took every fiber in my body to not go off on this man and to not pull the trigger. YES, I CARRY! You were trespassing, you were complaining about a public sidewalk, something that homeowners, hard-working taxpayers pay tax on you do not own that piece of property, but you feel the need to come onto private property & trespass. My son was scared and I was scared for him but there is nothing that I nor my husband would do to properly protect our child. My child like many others rides their bike to school and he’s not perfect but my son was not on this gentleman‘s property nor was he dismissive of this gentleman but this gentleman took it upon himself to escalate the situation. So if this gentleman is watching the neighborhood, watch page or commentary, or anything of that nature let it be known that we do ride our bikes and we will ride them on the sidewalk unless they are going a speed that they can be on the street and given since this town does not have sidewalks on ALL of their streets, please be aware that not only I, but our neighbors will now be on notice of your vehicle, and what you look like you, after all, you were on camera sincerely, the child’s parent!
