A few months ago, our friends at Intown Concord created an incredible social media post about parking in downtown Concord. It got our team thinking that Manchester needs one, too!
Because, believe it or not, we’ve actually had people tell us, “There’s nowhere to park in Manchester!”
Well, we’re here to tell you that there are plenty of places to park downtown. You just might have to walk a block or two.
To help, we’ve created our very own Guide to Parking in Downtown Manchester to show you where those parking spots are and how close they really are to your destination.
Something to think about: According to Streetcraft, you often walk just as far, or even farther, when you park at a big-box store. You park your car, walk across the lot to the entrance, walk around the store while you shop, and then walk all the way back to your car.
So why does a downtown parking spot a block away feel so much farther?
It’s all about sightlines and visual cues. When you can see the entrance to a big-box store from your car, the walk feels shorter. Downtown, you may not be able to see your destination right away, so that same distance can feel much longer.
The bottom line here is don’t let a parking space being a block away keep you from enjoying downtown Manchester.
Your parking spot may not be directly in front of the restaurant, shop, or business you’re visiting. But we’re pretty confident you’re not complaining to Hannaford when you can’t park directly in front of the dairy section.
Park the car. Take the walk. Enjoy downtown Manchester!
