At 1650 hours, the volunteers of the Strinestown Community Fire Company along with mutual aid companies were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with reported entrapment on Interstate 83 southbound at mile marker 28.6.
Responding units included Chief 26, Assistant Chief 26-1, Rescue 26, Engine 26-2, Engine 26-4, Rescue 31, and Engine 89-5. Upon arrival, Chief 26 reported a multi-vehicle accident with crews checking for possible entrapment. After further assessment, York County was advised that there were no reported injuries; however, crews were faced with a very large debris field across the roadway.
Units remain on scene handling cleanup and traffic control operations. At this time, Interstate 83 southbound near mile marker 28 remains closed. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
