Mini Makers day camp was a success! We spent the day by putting their creativity to the test by diving into the Engineering Design Process! From building ‘A Chair for Bear’ to rotating through many engineering and building stations including Lego Mazes, Strawbees, 3DUX Cardboard Creations, Tower Building, and more! Youth wrapped up the day exploring motion and design activities and creating their very own helpful inventions!

It was a day full of problem solving, building, and big ideas! Our mini makers truly engineered an awesome day!

📚We had a great time at our second Summer Reading Library Lesson at the Manchester Public Library! 🎉

Youth had a blast learning that confidence comes from being yourself, recognizing your unique talents, and showing kindness to others. Youth participated in activities that encouraged self- confidence, celebrated what makes them special, and practiced positive actions they can use everyday!

Last Thursday we kicked off our first day camp of the summer with Splashin’ Through the Summer—and what a start it was! Even with the rainy weather, our campers dove right into the fun.

Campers made homemade watermelon popsicles, built penny boats to see whose design could hold the most coins, made colorful splatter paint art, explored the weird and wonderful world of oobleck, and enjoyed plenty of other hands‑on activities.

Rain or shine, this group made the day unforgettable. We can’t wait for the rest of our summer day camps!

🎉We had our first Summer Reading Library Lesson at the Manchester Public Library!🎉

Youth had a blast learning all about how exercise keeps us healthy! We learned how to find balance in our day, and why too much screen time can keep us from exploring the world around us. Youth also made their very own Couch Potato Catcher filled with outdoor activities for when they need to be active!

Can’t wait for Tuesday, June 16th at 1:30 for our next lesson, Bean Cool and Confident, where youth will learn all about being confident and their unique self!

Meet Our New Team Member!

Please join us in welcoming Sidney Schafer to our team as our new Youth Education Coordinator! (Not to be confused with Sydney Demmer—4-H County Youth Coordinator!)

Sidney joins us with a background in agriculture and has been involved in 4-H for as long as she can remember, starting as a Clover Kid and spending many years showing livestock.

She earned her degree in Agricultural Business and is excited to connect with youth and families across the county. She is looking forward to helping youth discover new interests, build confidence, develop leadership skills, and create lasting memories through 4-H and youth programming.

Having grown up in 4-H, she knows first hand the impact these experiences can have on young people. She is especially passionate about creating opportunities for the youth to learn, grow, and develop leadership skills that will serve them throughout their lives.

When she is not at work, you can find her at a softball field, a livestock show, spending time with friends and family on the farm, or planning her next coffee run.

A fun fact about Sidney is even though she grew up in Grundy County she spent many summers at the Delaware County Fair showing dairy cattle in the kiddie show with her cousins and family from Delaware County.

We're so excited to have Sidney on board and look forward to the positive impact she will make in our community.
