June is PTSD Awareness Month
Over 13 million Americans are living with PTSD. We must do everything possible to support them. Women, Men & Children.
Who is Most Affected?
-Women are roughly twice as likely as men to develop PTSD, largely due to a higher statistical likelihood of experiencing interpersonal and sexual assault.
-Veterans: Combat veterans and individuals deployed to war zones experience higher rates of PTSD compared to the general civilian population.
-First Responders: Firefighters, police officers, and emergency medical personnel have significantly higher rates of PTSD due to repeated exposure to traumatic events and tragedies.
-Survivors of Violence & Disasters: Individuals who have experienced domestic abuse, human trafficking, terrorism, or severe accidents are at a high risk.
